Privacy Policies
What data will be collected?
During the consultation session, I will be collecting your name, address, civil status, GP, email address, phone number, and History of counselling. All information will be only used by me.
IP address and bank details will also be collected for payment transactions.
What is the purpose of collecting data?
Counselling notes are kept to monitor the client’s progress and to protect both the client and the therapist. Record keeping is required as per the IACP code of ethics in case there is an event of legal or ethical procedures.
How is information stored?
All information is stored in a secure manner and as per professional code is kept for seven years. Once the seven years pass all data will be destroyed.
Who has access to the personal information?
All information is confidential but in some circumstances, it might be shared with other healthcare professionals but client will be notified and consent will be required to do so unless there is a serious risk to your health.
Under the law, we are permitted to share information if there is serious concern regarding your safety or others. Under the Children First Act 2015, we are obliged to report any retrospective or current abuse to Tusla Child & Family Agency or An Garda Siochana but I will be supporting and guiding you through this process.
I will also be sharing cases with my supervisor but no identifying information is shared.
Client’s rights:
You have the right to access all your personal information and counselling notes. You can send a request in writing to your therapist to have access to the information.
